Our history begins with one man; Clifford Corne and his vision to create a company that delivers peace of mind by making business operations secure and worksites safe and reliably secure. Secure Engineering has continued to steadily grow through long-lasting customer relationships. These have typically begun with a small piece of work and once confirmed we deliver with excellence, such performance has ensured our works have continually grown to include multi-site regional maintenance contracts and projects which have seen us install complex multifaceted integrated Security Systems across sensitive sites such as Critical National Infrastructure Designated Sites.
A brief glimpse at some points of interest:
Clifford Corne’s electronic engineering background, 7 years training within the Ministry of Defence and his interest in the world of security led him to the creation of Secure Engineering. Long term Customer relationships begun with large utility providers including water companies, waste treatment works and power stations. Secure Engineering soon expanded to include a team of engineers, a sales manager and an office manager.
Secure Engineering installs high performance cameras at Woking Railway Station carpark and there-by reduces the alarming annual car crime costs at that one location from £1,000,000 to zero virtually overnight! These amazing results ensured further Station projects followed with Basingstoke, Southampton Parkway and Southampton Central; leading the way with technology providing safety and security at Railway Stations. Secure Engineering Continued to install high performance, security systems across the South East for Connex South Eastern and South West Trains reducing crime and vandalism, but most importantly keeping people safe in their travels. Secure Engineering installed CCTV systems at a total of 84 railway stations.
Bringing Secure Engineering’s high technology to Traffic Management in Kent.
The TMC is a control centre that oversees and manages the urban traffic flow in many of the major towns and cities in Kent. Originally using fibre and ISDN connected cameras, the TMC used an early version of BBV’s (Building Block Video) Pick-a-Point GUI-based control system. In 2006 the TMC moved to a new purpose-built area on the 10th floor of KCC’s Miller House. This new Traffic Management Centre system was a fully IP-based, flexible and expandable installation based around two large Barco 72” rear projection video walls and a BBV Pick-a-Point GUI control system with maps and icons. This system enabled The TMC to monitor and manage traffic flow across the county, easing traffic congestion at busy time and in turn making travelling by car easier and safer. Secure Engineering have since installed a new TMC CCTV system at KCC’s Doubleday House in Aylesford. The new system now monitors 190 cameras across Kent.
Secure Engineering played an important part in the construction of the Luton-Dunstable Guided Busway. The requirement for Secure Engineering was to supply and install CCTV coverage and intercom help points at the eight bus shelters and eight key access points along the Busway, to supply CCTV coverage and intercom help points for the Luton Bus/Train Interchange, and to provide a stand-alone monitoring system to work alongside the existing Town Hall CCTV system, along with full integration of the Busway PTZ cameras and intercoms into their existing CCTV system. In addition, a remote monitoring suite was required at the Arriva bus depot in Luton.
